Entering Grade
Two: Learn to read, write, count, compare and order whole
numbers from 0 to 100. Memorize addition facts for 0 to 10 (sums to 20)
and corresponding subtraction facts. Add and subtract one and two digit
numbers. Perform early multiplication by counting by
twos, fives and tens.
Entering Grade Three:
Review addition and subtraction facts. Learn to read,
write, count, order and compare whole numbers from 0 to 1000. Work
with place values and expanded forms of numbers. Add and subtract three
digit numbers. Understand and memorize 2s, 5s and
10s times tables. Perform early division by repeated subtraction.
Introduce fractions and decimals as parts of a whole.
Entering Grade Four:
Learn to read, write, compare, order, round and represent in scientific
notation whole numbers from 0 to 10,000. Add and
subtract two whole numbers to 10,000. Compare, add and subtract simple
fractions. Add, subtract, multiply and divide with
decimals. Understand the relationship between fractions and decimals.
Entering Grade Five:
Learn to read, write, compare, order and round numbers to the millions
with decimals to two decimal places. Understand
fractions and decimals for tenths and hundredths. Introduce negative
numbers. Add and subtract multidigit numbers, multiply
multidigit numbers by two digit numbers, divide a multidigit number by
a one digit number. Introduce prime numbers and
factors.
Entering Grade Six:
Work with numbers to the millions and thousandths.
Understand and compute percents and their corresponding decimal. Learn
prime factorization using exponents. Perform multidigit addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division with decimals. Begin
early addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions
and mixed numbers.
